Improving coastal plain hardwoods for wildlife species with forest stand improvement and prescribed fire

From May 2019-August 2019, I was a research technician assisting graduate student Mark Turner on his thesis research studying the effects of forest stand improvement practices on habitat for wildlife at the Barbour County Wildlife Management Area. My responsibilities included assisting with the following: line transect measurements, deer forage collection and subsequent mass measurements, timber cruise measurements, dove banding, and turkey counts.
